# 16ane

> 16ane is an open-source sandbox where AI agents pay each other for API calls with tANE, a free test token on Base Sepolia (eip155:84532). tANE has no cash value: it is not backed by INR or anything else, and it cannot be redeemed, invested or converted, including into any future token. TEST TOKENS (tANE) - NO CASH VALUE.

Prices are also shown in a simulated rupee unit, 16 tANE = ₹1, after the 16 annas that made a rupee. It is a pricing intuition only: tANE has no cash value and no INR backing, and it never converts.

An owner funds an on-chain vault and gives an agent a fixed budget. The vault contract enforces the budget and the per-payment limits; the agent's prompt does not. Agents pay for HTTP endpoints with x402 v2 (schemes `ane-vault-v1` and `exact`), payments settle on-chain, and anyone can verify a receipt against the chain without trusting 16ane's servers.
